Welcome to IPITA 2013
Dear Colleagues,
It is with a great deal of enthusiasm that we invite you to attend the 14th World Congress of the International Pancreas and Islet Transplant Association (IPITA 2013) to be held in Monterey, California on September 24-27, 2013. The central coast of California is ideally suited to host a congress of an Association that supports innovation in all strategies of beta cell replacement for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. The region is home to several institutions which have well established programs in pancreas as well as islet transplantation. Of equal significance, California is home to several innovators in the biotechnology industry, particularly in the area of stem cell research as a potential new source of beta cells. The timing of this congress is optimal for the next wave of young scientists, as the meeting symposia will revolve around the multiple evolving options for beta cell replacement.
The congress will be held in the spectacular setting of Monterey, strategically located on the Pacific Ocean, providing a perfect environment for the exchange of scientific ideas. The recreational opportunities in this region are endless, ranging from ocean kayaking, golfing at one of the 19 championship golf courses, or hiking the spectacular cliffs of Big Sur. There is a wide selection of California cuisine in Monterey and nearby Carmel, not to mention the opportunity for wine tasting in the famous vineyards of Central California.
Great science in spectacular setting will provide the opportunity for an exciting congress that you will not want to miss.
Kind regards,
